Late Night Music Channels

The cool thing about late night music is the D/Js have the (I assume) freedom to play what they want. It's refreshing to see completely random music+videos even if only for the unqiqeness that they bring to an otherwise highly commercialised and homogonised music market. Be creative.

Living video

Unfortunately I am not being paid by Adobe but they have a cool Adobe Cards advertisement that shows a "living video". You can stop at any point and it's still moving. Moving the slider gets the animation to head towards that point. Just see it, it will make more sense...

...or you may find your image looks a lot more interesting at 90 degrees like the new OGC logo does.

Air

The V festival recently hosted Air on their first trip down under and so I took the chance to see them. I had been warned by my sister that they were not that great live so I wasn't holding out for a great performance. Well, they weren't too bad but their style of music probably doesn't fit well in a festival (there were a few confused sounds from the general festival goers). I think you needed to be near the front with a more appreciative audience as from the back the noise of the crowd drowned out the music at times.

But I was prepared, and I went and saw them at the Opera house a week later. First impression: It's a lot smaller inside than you'd expect but it makes for a cosy performance. With simple lighting and smoke they cruised through tracks moving from chilled out lounge listening to more rocky stuff (I was suprised how much guitar they actually had in their music). When they left the stage I would have rated the performace "definitely worth seeing" but the encore was insanely drawn out and epileptically intense and rewarded with a well deserved standing ovation.

Other peoples reviews and an interview.

Tracking notes and exchange rates

I was looking for a exchange rate history graph to see when I should convert some money (x-rates.com did what I wanted). However on the way I was distracted and played with an Austrlian note tracker. It's quite new (as were the notes I tried) so no history was found for my money. The US equivalent has been running for longer so chuck your numbers into the Australian one to get it going!

Dropship: United Peace Force

During Uni I played a really cool flightsim called Dropship: United Peace Force (PS2). Really fun as the planes had complex behaviour (could hover or fly like a plane) and the missions were very varied (escort missions, dogfights, strafing, driving tanks). Apparently the original idea was to base it on the dropship in Aliens. It would be cool to see a modern remake (apparently it was a commercial flop though).

New webcomic: Odd Fish

I love how the octopus is called Lovecraft.

Update: Apparently the image link doesn't work from this site; click through and refresh to see the comic. I HATE anchovies...
